Studies suggest that women account for just 22-25% of total employees in the power sector, and a low proportion work in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) roles.
The energy sector remains one of the most gender imbalanced sectors, and gender equity in this sector still poses a great challenge in India. Only 22-25% of total power sector employees are female, and a low percentage are employed in STEM fields.
Women in Energy Entrepreneurship (WEE) is a program by New Energy Nexus powered by Climate Collective Foundation to support entrepreneurship in clean energy and energy access across aspiring and early stage women entrepreneurs in India.
The program is currently funded by Good Energies Foundation and aims to support almost 160 aspiring women entrepreneurs and approximately 60 women-led startups for two years (2021-2023).
Women graduates/diploma holders/postgraduates/PhD holders in Science/Engineering/Technology from India with an aptitude for technology
Graduates who have completed their recent degree in the last 0-4 years
Willing to commit atleast 4 hours per week for first 6 months and atleast 20 hours a week in the last three months
Gain subject-matter knowledge through interactive workshops, case studies, and collaborative assignments
Build business literacy
Exposure to global climate tech business models

Our ongoing Climate Certificate for Women in Energy program is currently supporting 15 aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them necessary business literacy and domain knowledge with the help our various domain experts.
We are currently running Climate Certificate for Women in Circular Economy program, and are supporting 5 aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them necessary business literacy and domain knowledge with the help our various domain experts.
