What is Climate Fellowship for Women in Energy?

Climate Fellowship for Women in Energy 3-month capacity-building program with 3-6 months of internship or business idea development & validation is designed to support women ready to take the next step in clean energy entrepreneurship journey. The fellowship is open to recent graduates, researchers, and early-career professionals. It introduces participants to key climate challenges while equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to build and run climate-focused ventures through expert-led sessions and practical training.
Offered by Climate Collective Foundation, the program aims to foster a gender-balanced and inclusive startup ecosystem, with three specialized tracks: Future Mobility, Clean Energy Access, and Data & AI for Clean Energy in phase 2.

What are the outcomes expected from this fellowship?

The fellowship is designed to help participants develop basic subject knowledge in climate, with a focus on clean energy and energy access; build business literacy and confidence to take the plunge into entrepreneurship; understand potential opportunities in the clean energy sector; gain practical exposure by working with relevant startups; and access mentors, experts, founders, and other stakeholders to become part of the larger climate tech community.

Is this fellowship recognized/ approved by any university?

No, this fellowship is offered by Climate Collective Foundation as part of our Startup Earth Centre (SEC) program. The course content is developed by startup founders and domain experts, to develop technical know-how and business literacy among aspiring women entrepreneurs 

Will I receive a completion certificate after successfully completing the fellowship?

Yes, each participant will receive a fellowship completion certificate if they complete the course requisites and have at least 70% participation.

What is the fee for this fellowship?

The fellowship is currently funded by Good Energies Foundation and hence offered at no charge to the participants.

What is the duration of the course?

The fellowship includes 3-month capacity-building with 3-6 months of internship (depending on the employer organization or startup) or business idea development & validation.

I am in my final year of graduation/post-graduation. Can I enroll for this fellowship?

No, you should complete your degree to enroll for this fellowship

I am working full-time with a company. Am I eligible?

Yes you can apply for this program!

I am a mid-level professional with 5+ years' experience, can I apply?

We have a mandate for Climate Fellowship for women to onboard, young professionals and researchers, recent graduates who are starting their careers. With this course, we aim to help women build confidence and find a path for their careers. So, this might not be the course for you. 

We are an early-stage startup in energy. Can we enroll for this fellowship?

This fellowship is designed for aspiring young entrepreneurs. If you have a well-defined idea then you will be better suited for our pre-accelerator/ accelerator programs. If you are still in idea formation, you are welcome to apply here. 

I am not a citizen of India but fulfils other criteria. Am I eligible to apply?

Unfortunately, this fellowship is open for Indian nationals only. However, do keep a look out for our upcoming programs.

What is the selection criteria for the program?

The applicants who meet the minimum eligibility criteria will be judged on their intent of applying for this fellowship and commitment to participate and complete the fellowship requisites.  

By when can I hear on the selection post applying for the fellowship?

We will take 1 week to scrutinize applications after the application deadline. If you are selected, you will receive an email from us.

Will I be put on waiting list if don’t receive the selection email?

Yes. If we have seats available, we will contact the candidates in the waiting list.

In what language will the fellowship be conducted?

English 

Am I expected to physically relocate to be part of this fellowship?

This program is completely virtual.

Do I need specific equipment to be part of the fellowship?

We expect participants to have access to a desktop or laptop computer and reliable internet connection for completing the fellowship requisites.

What would be the format of the fellowship?

The course will have a mix of pre-recorded lectures, live interactions, workshops, talks with successful founders, mentorship sessions and assignments which needs to be completed. In addition to this, the participants will get opportunity to get internships with startups in climate tech and clean energy space or get further support to work on their own business idea.

Do I need to buy textbooks?

All the reading materials you are required to access will be provided during the fellowship. Instructors
may provide recommended and suggested texts for further exploration.

Are there going to be team assignments? Can they be completed virtually?

Yes, we want to foster collaboration so that there is a greater shared learning across sthe cohort.
The assignments will be designed in a format that will let you collaborate remotely.

Do I get to choose the startup where I want to intern?

Your profile will be shared with our startups. The final selection would be based on candidate’s profile & preference as well as the need and selection criteria of the startup.

During the fellowship duration, I will have wedding/reunion/exam to attend and would be on a long period of absence. Can I skip some parts of the program?

While we strongly suggest that you don’t miss any sessions as learning come more outcomes are better through interaction and collaboration, however you are free to choose as long as you are active for at least 70 percent of the fellowship. 

Can I skip internship with a startup?

If you have a business idea that you would want to work on during the last three-six months, you can
skip interning with a startup and instead work on strengthening your own business plan.
